The Nissan Micra EV: A Charm Offensive on Four Wheels

The 2017 Nissan Micra EV is more than just a new model in the small vehicle market when it first leaves the lot; it's a calculated move encased in style. Based on the well-proven Renault 5 ETech chassis, this adorable yet functional electric hatchback seeks to rekindle Nissan's interest in Europe's very competitive city-car market.

A Design That’s All Heart

The Micra may be compact, but its personality is larger than life. Thanks to smart front-end styling, rounded contours, and a cheerful stance, it captures attention from the moment you see it. It embodies a design philosophy that says, “Small doesn’t mean boring”—inviting urban drivers to embrace EVs without intimidation.

At under 4 meters in length, the Micra remains compact yet boldly styled with a distinctive “ice cream scoop” waistline, grinning circular LED headlights, and a slightly raised SUV-like posture.

Exclusive touches from Nissan’s London Studio—like playful LED winks when unlocked and bold wheel arches—give it a cheerful yet tough urban edge

Interior & Tech

Step inside and you’ll be greeted by twin 10.1inch displays: one as the digital instrument cluster, the other as an infotainment touchscreen powered by Google Apps—integrated seamlessly with Google Maps and Assistant.

With its 48-color ambient lighting, storage details inspired by Mount Fuji, and a minimalistic design that puts comfort and style first, the cabin effortlessly combines elegance and simplicity.

Power & Performance

Buyers can choose between two battery packs:

● 40 kWh with 90 kW motor delivering around 308 km (192 miles) WLTP

● 52 kWh with 110 kW motor offering up to 408 km (253 miles) WLTP.

Both models support fast charging: 80 kW for the smaller battery, and up to 100 kW for the larger—going from 15% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes.

Standard features include a heat-pump climate system, vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, rigid yet lightweight suspension with independent front and multi-link rear, and three driving modes—comfort, sport, and eco—for a fun, agile ride.

Practicality & Appeal

With a roomy 2.54 m wheelbase and cleverly packaged dimensions, Micra’s boot offers 326 liters of luggage space—which can expand to over 1,100 liters when folding the rear seats.

Lightweight build (1,400–1,524 kg) ensures nimble handling and efficiency, and the vehicle comes packed with modern safety aids like adaptive cruise, lane-keeping, blind-spot monitoring, and autonomous braking.
